Miss Ping - back again!

Jul. 7th, 2006 | 08:15 pm
location: North London, UK
mood: relaxedrelaxed
music: Dixie Chicks

After I Posted Miss Ping's FABULOUS bowl-cut on May 16th I had to make it "private" due to an issue with the model's image rights. That issue has now been resolved, so the Post is now "public" again - just scroll down to enjoy again!

If you blinked first time around, you may have missed it!

Only Classic Bobs?

May. 9th, 2006 | 09:08 pm
mood: busybusy
music: The Cure - Inbetween Days

If you think that the last three Posts mean that 51hair now only cuts one style - then think again!

From April 7th to 13th, Mr Fujimori (a Japanese stylist, specialising in cutting and collecting long hair) and Mr Mano (51hair's Japanese agent) visited Nimuda in Shanghai, and in that short space of time performed makeovers on more than FIFTEEN long hair models.

Seven of these (various styles) are already posted to the VIP Zone of 51hair with the rest - and many more makeovers - to follow.

If you LOVE the pictures in this Blog and haven't yet joined 51hair, then what are you waiting for?

Long time away ...

May. 3rd, 2006 | 08:00 pm
mood: amusedamused
music: Sisters of Mercy - Dominion

It's been a long time since an update, what with holidays then catching up after holidays. No such luck for Nimuda at 51hair - he's been VERY busy with many new stunning makeovers having taken place over the last month.

As for my last Post, some disappointing news - Miss Ye changed her mind and went for a different makeover to the one I'd chosen for her and Miss Chao has simply decided not to get her hair cut for now. At least that proves what I said previously - none of the models are forced into this and none are exploited - unlike some other sites you may have seen. Take a look at the smiles on their faces to see that they win all hands up!

So, I'll wait for a suitable and willing model to sport my asymmetric bob - the anticipation will make it even more special.

I have Posted some makeovers to my Yahoo Group recently:

... and I'll showcase some here to show you what non-VIP Members of 51hair are missing!

If you like the pictures Posted here ...

mood: optimisticoptimistic
music: Embrace - Nature's Law

... then what are YOU going to do to ensure that they continue to appear?

Let's face it - it's not often that you see NEW, quality, original, professional hair-cutting pictures on the Net. And the only way they do appear is if someone finds models, pays them, pays the salon, pays the hairdresser, pays for the processing and marketing and releases the pictures and DVDs.

Also, to be sustainable, such individuals need a constant supply of new customers to fund the above; until it becomes exponential: Members = cash = more productions = more Members = many more productions etc, etc.

51hair is a little over a year old but, you MUST agree, it is a site worth supporting.

If you are not a Member, please join.

If you genuinely can't afford to join, then please promote 51hair directly (links to hair Groups, word of mouth, chat-rooms etc) or show others this Live Journal or my Yahoo Group for great examples of Nimuda's work.

Even if you are already a Member, it's worth doing the above - it's in the interest of ALL hair fans!

We value your support - please keep it coming!

Message from Nimuda to all Customers of 51hair

Mar. 9th, 2006 | 12:17 pm
mood: embarrassedembarrassed

Nimuda has been experiencing e-mail problems lately - both with "gmail" and his "VIP" address. If you have sent him a message and haven't received a response, this is probably the reason.

The most reliable way of contacting him appears to be via Hotmail:

Apologies for any problems this may have caused.

Calling for Asymmetric Bob Pictures

Do you have good pictures of asymmetric bobs? This isn't a style that you see very often but it can look STUNNING when well executed.

If you do have any, please post the link in my LJ or upload them to a Guest folder I've created in my Yahoo Group:

I'm going to commission Nimuda to cut such a style on 51hair and I'm in need of a good example.

Thanks - in advance.

Miss Fei Re-visited

Mar. 4th, 2006 | 12:54 am

If you remember Miss Fei from a few Posts ago, you should also remember that I was blown away by her DVD, in which she talked to me personally (in English) about the style I had chosen for her and how much she admired the short-naped bobs - combining the "mushroom bob" (popular in '50s China) with a modern, daring twist. I was charmed by her and wished then that I had suggested a more daring variation - particular when I saw how well my style suited her lovely slim neck. So I wrote her a letter ...

"Dear Miss Fei

Now it's my turn to introduce myself: I am David (as you know), I'm an Engineer, and I live just north of London in the UK.

Firstly, I wanted to say how pleased I was to receive the DVD of your haircut and to hear you speak to me directly in perfect English. I was very impressed.

Secondly, I wanted to say how well your new hairstyle suits you. Your long hair was indeed beautiful but, I feel, the shorter style suits you better - framing your face and enhancing your features.

The shaved style at the back is quite daring but, on the right model, can look stunning. Having seen your new style from the back, I can see that you were the perfect choice - your hair is thick and full and contrasts beautifully against your long, slim neck. I hope these words do not embarrass you, they are simply an accurate description.

Having seen your new style and heard you explain on the DVD how you like the styles that are shorter at the back, I asked Nimuda if you would consider a further cut.

The shape of your head above the nape area is very beautiful, whereas this is often not the case. I believe that it would look even more beautiful if more of it was exposed.

This would involve gently shaving the back of your head with the clippers and straight razor to the tops of your ears at the sides and slightly higher still in the middle.

I would not want the hair on your face to be any shorter, so this would mean that the sides would need to be angled very steeply, just exposing the base of your ears at the front but meeting high at the back, exposing most of the shaved area.

The long hair at the sides and back should curl under to maximise the volume - like a mushroom - contrasting against the shaved areas.

This would be a very brave and dramatic style - very conventional from the front but very daring from the back. Also, very cool for the spring. Would you be willing to agree to such a style?

The photograph that I sent to Nimuda isn't quite right, but it was the best I could find. I'm sure that you could explain it better to the stylist and Nimuda.

Kind regards

You cannot imagine how excited I was when she replied and agreed to this. Her hair was cut again today - and I'm pleased to say that the 7MB of pictures I received EXCEEDED my expectations.

I will Post soon but, in the meantime, I will enjoy them to myself.

Thank you Miss Fei - you are beautiful inside and out.

My Favorite Bob

Mar. 2nd, 2006 | 09:54 pm
mood: excitedexcited
music: The Verve - Northern Soul

This must be one of my all time favorite styles:

Chin-length on the face but with a high, horizontal, blunt weight-line at the back, mushroomed under against a short-buzzed nape. Stunning!

This style needs really thick hair for maximum impact, so I challenged Nimuda to find a suitable model who MIGHT agree to such a makeover.

The CandidateCollapse )
